Frequently Asked Questions — Morocco Desert Tours

Everything travellers ask us about Sahara desert tours, Merzouga, camel treks, camps, packing and booking.

The classic choice is a 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour: cross the High Atlas Mountains, visit Ait Benhaddou and the Dades Valley, ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset and sleep in a desert camp. If you finish in Fes, the Marrakech to Fes desert tour (3, 4 or 5 days) saves you backtracking.

Merzouga is about 560 km from Marrakech, roughly 9 hours of driving. Our tours break the journey with a night in the Dades Valley, plus stops at Ait Benhaddou, the Valley of Roses and Todra Gorges, so it never feels like one long drive.

A private tour is just for you, with your own driver-guide and flexible stops. A small-group tour is capped at 12 travellers for a personal feel. A shared tour joins a larger group at the lowest price — the route and camp are the same, the vehicle and group are bigger.

Morocco desert tours run all year. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) have the mildest temperatures. Winter nights can drop near 0°C in the dunes, and summer days are hot — both are manageable with the right layers and an air-conditioned vehicle.

Yes, the sunset camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes to your camp is included in our desert tours. If you prefer not to ride, a 4x4 transfer to the camp can be arranged — just tell us in advance.

Message us on WhatsApp at +44 7393 905100 or use the booking form on any tour page. Tell us your dates and group size, and we reply with availability and a no-obligation quote, usually within a few hours.

Pickup from your accommodation, air-conditioned transport, an English-speaking driver-guide, hotel and desert camp nights as listed, dinners and breakfasts as listed, and the camel trek. Lunches, drinks, entrance fees and tips are not included.

A small overnight bag for the camp (main luggage stays in the vehicle), comfortable closed shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and warm layers for the evening — desert nights are cold from December to February.

Yes. Our camps have real beds and quality linens. Luxury camps add private bathrooms with hot showers and electricity. Dinner and breakfast are served at the camp, with music around the campfire in the evening.

Yes — a 4x4 transfer to and from the camp can be arranged instead. Just tell us when you book.

Message us on WhatsApp or use a booking form. We confirm availability and price in writing before you commit to anything — there is no obligation until you say yes.

Yes, with daily departures. Summer desert days are hot, so we adjust timings; winter nights are cold but the skies are at their clearest.
